What you listen to are muscle sounds. They come from within the performer’s body. They are amplified, and played back through loudspeakers. With the aid of a computer the performer samples the sound of his own flesh in real time.
This work is based on the Xth Sense biophysical technology developed by the author.
No pre-recorded sounds, MIDI, motion tracking system, Kinect, or other movement or light sensors are used in the piece.
Recorded live at The University of Edinburgh, UK, March 2011.
Xth Sense is:
- a low-cost biosensing wearable hardware device;
- a DSP modular software for capture, analysis and processing of biological sounds of the body (Pure Data-based).
“SUNI”
Suni , “Altura” en runa simi (quechua) , es un disco grabado entre Octubre del 2010 y Enero del 2011. Tomás Tello narra , utilizando el sonido, diferentes momentos de un día en un valle de las alturas andinas. Empieza y termina en el amanecer. Se utilizaron muchos instrumentos distintos (walkmans, controles remotos, air -fx, flautas, monotron, circuit bending, etc). Fue ejecutado en vivo y grabado en casette en un “Profesional Walkman” de Sony. Edición solamente en cassette.
